Meals on Wheels (MOW)Program Service Coordinator

Permanent Full Time Position – 35hours per week

Location: Beamsville, Ontario

Reporting to: Area Team Lead

Primary function of the coordinator is implement the Hot and Frozen Meals through the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program, within the West Niagara area.

Roles and Responsibilities;

  • Complete intakes for all services and supports relating to MOW
  • Prepares weekly route sheets
  • Schedule volunteer drivers/servers to support the MOW program
  • Trains and supports volunteers to relating to MOW
  • Maintain positive relationship with food providers
  • Ensure orders for both hot and frozen meals are submitted
  • Obtain client orders for both hot and frozen meals
  • Participate in performance and quality measurements, compiling program indicators and outcomes
  • Maintain accurate recording of statistics and client interactions in database
  • Maintain records for client billing
  • Maintain monthly volunteer travel reimbursement records
  • Deliver meals as needed
  • Prepares reports as requested
  • Monitor service, determines client and volunteer satisfaction and resolves any issues/concerns
  • Attend seminars, meetings and maintains current knowledge of volunteer management activities and client service practices
  • Participate in CSSN promotional activities
  • Participate as a CSSN team member, promoting the agency and making suggestions for improvements
  • Lead revenue generation initiatives within the West Niagara service area.
  • Maintain confidentiality of volunteer and client information
  • Perform other duties and functions as required

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English with superior oral and written communication skills
  • Educational background in social services or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working with volunteers, seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Knowledge and ability to navigate throughout the West Niagara area
  • Proven presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; including telephone skills, interviewing and assessment skills
  • Proven ability to train and assist with orientation sessions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, sit, stand, bend for extended periods of time
  • Computer skills – Microsoft office and database management
  • Able to work occasional week nights or weekends
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license, valid insurance with minimum $1 Million liability and use of automobile required
  • Ability to communicate in French is an asset

Brokered Worker - Property Maintenance & General Labour

Position: Brokered workers (across Niagara Region – from Fort Erie to Grimsby)

 Purpose: Contract Self-employed position offering services to seniors and adults living with a disability

 Responsibilities:

  • Workers required across the Niagara Region to assist seniors and adults with disabilities with gardening, grass cutting, minor home repairs and odd jobs.
  • Although you will work for yourself, you will be required to complete the screening process: application form, personal interview, sign confidentiality agreement, attend orientation and submit to a police check.
  • .The orientation will enable you to be aware of CSSN policies
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.

HOMEMAKERS NEEDED IN ST. CATHARINES, WELLAND AND BEAMSVILLE

RESIDENTIAL CLEANERS – St. Catharines

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To provide and complete agreed upon and specific services for clients in their own home
    • To provide services including light housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, errands, food preparation as determined by the client and the CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To advise the CSSN Service Coordinator if you cannot perform the work
    • To work in a safe manner and wear gloves as required and non-slip shoes and safety equipment as designated
    • To refrain from lifting or moving heavy objects such as sofas, refrigerators etc.
    • To be available for client assignments up to 24 hours per week
    • To be a good listener and respect the needs, decisions and rights of the client
    • To refrain from providing the following activities including: personal care, lifting of client, dispensing medications, providing advice – if in doubt contact CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To inform the CSSN Service Coordinator of any concerns noted in client’s condition or safety issues in client’s home
    • To understand and follow emergency procedures
    • To keep a record of hours worked and report to CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To inform the CSSN Service Coordinator if you can no longer be a homemaker or will be away for a length of time
    • To maintain confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior residential cleaning experience necessary
  • To complete the screening process: application form, personal interview, police check including vulnerable sector clearance, provision of references, sign confidentiality agreement and attend orientation and training (mandatory)
  • To be available for scheduled shifts
  • Willingness to travel within the St. Catharines and Thorold area
  • Reliable vehicle with access to vehicle throughout the day
  • Million-dollar liability automobile insurance
  • To have patience, understanding and enjoy helping others
  • Ability to speak French an asset

WAGE, BENEFITS & HOURS:

  • Workers are CSSN part time staff
  • Scheduled shifts Mon-Fri, up to 24 hours per week
  • Hourly wage of $16.00 plus 4% vacation pay
  • Ability to work between the hours 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
  • Probationary period is 3 months
  • Paid training day, to be added onto first pay cheque (after working first schedule)
