Summer Student Service Coordinator Position Description

Position: Summer Student Service Coordinator

Purpose: To assist full time Volunteer and Service Coordinators with daily job functions

Responsible to: CSSN Management

Responsibilities:

To assist CSSN Staff with the duties in any office or program site, duties may include:

• Complete client intake/assessment and documentation
• Determine client eligibility for services and makes appropriate referrals with client consent
• Ensure that special needs of client are addressed and make necessary changes to service delivery
• Monitor and follow up with client/caregiver/volunteer to determine satisfaction with services and documents results
• Maintain accurate and current client files, corresponding database and service records
• Work with Volunteer and Service Coordinators to determine need for volunteers and kinds of volunteer assignments
• Maintain confidentiality of client/volunteer information
• Participate as a CSSN team member, promoting the agency and making suggestions for improvements
• Prepare reports as requested
• Attend meetings and training sessions and maintain current knowledge of client related services
• To maintain a courteous and friendly manner to all persons on the telephone/in person including clients, volunteers, other agency personnel and outside agency personnel
• To assist the staff with office duties as assigned
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must be between the ages of 18-30 and be returning to a post-secondary institution in September to resume full time studies
• To complete the screening process: application form, personal interview, sign confidentiality agreement and attend volunteer orientation and training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a car available throughout the work day with a minimum of $1 Million liability insurance.
• To possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Office and computer experience an asset.
• To follow all CSSN policies and procedures.
• To have patience, understanding and enjoy helping others.
• Ability to speak a second language an asset.

  • 35.00 hours per week
  • 8 weeks
  • $14.00/hr

The student will be supervised directly by CSSN Management. Although directly supervised by management, the student will have the opportunity to work with staff in the office to learn specific roles and programs within the agency. Management will maintain an open door policy that will allow the student to learn and excel in this position.

Brokered Worker - Property Maintenance & General Labour

Position: Brokered workers (across Niagara Region – from Fort Erie to Grimsby)

 Purpose: Contract Self-employed position offering services to seniors and adults living with a disability

 Responsibilities:

  • Workers required across the Niagara Region to assist seniors and adults with disabilities with gardening, grass cutting, minor home repairs and odd jobs.
  • Although you will work for yourself, you will be required to complete the screening process: application form, personal interview, sign confidentiality agreement, attend orientation and submit to a police check.
  • .The orientation will enable you to be aware of CSSN policies
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • To have patience, understanding and enjoy helping others.

Self Employed Brokered Worker – Snow Removal

HOMEMAKERS NEEDED IN ST. CATHARINES

RESIDENTIAL CLEANERS – St. Catharines

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To provide and complete agreed upon and specific services for clients in their own home
    • To provide services including light housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, errands, food preparation as determined by the client and the CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To advise the CSSN Service Coordinator if you cannot perform the work
    • To work in a safe manner and wear gloves as required and non-slip shoes and safety equipment as designated
    • To refrain from lifting or moving heavy objects such as sofas, refrigerators etc.
    • To be available for client assignments up to 24 hours per week
    • To be a good listener and respect the needs, decisions and rights of the client
    • To refrain from providing the following activities including: personal care, lifting of client, dispensing medications, providing advice – if in doubt contact CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To inform the CSSN Service Coordinator of any concerns noted in client’s condition or safety issues in client’s home
    • To understand and follow emergency procedures
    • To keep a record of hours worked and report to CSSN Service Coordinator
    • To inform the CSSN Service Coordinator if you can no longer be a homemaker or will be away for a length of time
    • To maintain confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior residential cleaning experience necessary
  • To complete the screening process: application form, personal interview, police check including vulnerable sector clearance, provision of references, sign confidentiality agreement and attend orientation and training (mandatory)
  • To be available for scheduled shifts
  • Willingness to travel within the St. Catharines and Thorold area
  • Reliable vehicle with access to vehicle throughout the day
  • Million-dollar liability automobile insurance
  • To have patience, understanding and enjoy helping others
  • Ability to speak French an asset

 

 

WAGE, BENEFITS & HOURS:

  • Workers are CSSN part time staff
  • Scheduled shifts Mon-Fri, up to 24 hours per week
  • Hourly wage of $16.00 plus 4% vacation pay
  • Ability to work between the hours 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
  • Probationary period is 3 months
  • Paid training day, to be added onto first pay cheque (after working first schedule)
